Following the deaths of Siva Simha's previous Queens, Phuleswari and Ambika (who also held the title of Bar Raja or chief king), Siva Simha’s third wife, Enadari, assumed the name of Sarvvesvari on becoming ‘Bar Raja’, The title of 'Bar Raja' meant the queen directly governed the kingdom, a unique arrangement in Ahom history implemented to potentially avert a prediction of Siva Simha's reign ending prematurely. She was known for her patronage of music, weaving, and literature. Sarvvesvari played a part in a unique period of Ahom history where queens held significant governing power, overseeing economic and cultural aspects of the kingdom, even establishing educational initiatives for girls.

This coin stands out for its remarkable artistic and epigraphic features, making it a true gem for advanced collectors of Mughal numismatics. The obverse showcases a fully defined Mihrab-shaped frame, within which the emperor’s complete titulature is elegantly inscribed: "Jalal ud-Din Muhammad Akbar Badshah Ghazi." Such a complete rendering of the royal name within a well-executed Mihrab is seldom encountered.Equally noteworthy is the complete mint inscription: "Zarb Dar-ul Khilafa Agra," including the rarely seen religious epithet—an unusual and desirable feature on Mohurs of this type, elevating the coin’s historical and collectible value. On the reverse, the Kalima is enclosed within a perfectly centered dotted border, sitting squarely within the flan—testifying to superior striking quality and die alignment, often lacking in surviving examples. These combined elements—full inscriptions, exceptional calligraphy, rare epithet, and centered strike—render this Mohur supremely attractive and of great rarity. Such specimens are highly sought-after and rarely offered in the marketplace. An exceptional opportunity to acquire a premium example of Akbar’s refined gold coinage.

Aurangzeb (1661-1663 AD in Cooch Behar), Silver ½ Tanka, 4.77g, Alamgirnagar Mint, RY 4, struck on the Cooch Behar standard with Bengali text, obv. legend in four lines Aora /ngajeva Va/dasaha Ala/mgira a cross under va, rev. in four lines Jarava/ Alamgi/ rnagara/ Sana (4) (Rhodes Bose 55, KM 85). Very Fine, Very Rare. In 1661 Cooch Behar was invaded by the Mughuls, who occupied the area for over two years. The Mughal General Mir Jumla used Cooch Behar as a base for his ultimately disastrous expedition into Assam. During the Mughal occupation, Prana Narayan fled to Bhutan, returning only in 1663 to re-occupy the area. The name of the town of Cooch Behar was changed to Alamgirnagar (after Aurangzeb Alamgir), and coins were struck in the name of the Mughal Emperor. In style they were exactly similar to the half rupees of Prana Narayan with legend in Urdu, but written in Bengali script. This issue, which fits into both the Cooch Behar and Mughal series, is Extremely Rare. This is probably one of the only examples in Mughal numismatic history that coins were issued in a regional script. ( Ex Todywalla Auction no. 146, Lot no. 59 )

Extremely Rare Transitional Floral Rupee of Jahangir – AH 1020 / RY 6 | Agra Mint

This exceptional silver rupee of Emperor Jahangir was struck shortly after the discontinuation of the Sawai standard coinage—an experimental weight system briefly adopted by the Mughal emperor at select imperial mints, including the historically significant Agra Mint.

Dated AH 1020 / RY 6, this coin belongs to a fascinating transitional phase in Jahangir’s numismatic history. During this period, the emperor introduced coins featuring changing monthly motifs and distinct artistic patterns, many of which were short-lived and discontinued by RY 7. The present specimen features an intricate floral design—part of an experimental and aesthetically rich coinage series that saw limited circulation. These artistic variants are now exceedingly rare and highly sought-after, with only a handful known to exist in any grade. A similar example was recently hammered at ₹3,25,000 at a Leading Auction House in India, underlining the strong demand among discerning collectors. A rare opportunity to acquire a piece of Mughal numismatic artistry from a brief but innovative period in Jahangir's reign.
