Apracha Rajas of Bajaur, Vijayamitra, (12 BC to 20 AD), Silver Tetradrachm, 8.90 gms, Obv. King on horseback to right holding whip Greek legends around, Rev. Pallas standing, holding long spear and small shield, nandipada to left, monogram to right, Senior #175.241, very fine+, extremely rare.
Note: Vijayamitra was an Apracha king who ruled in Gandhara, with his capital in Bajaur, from approximately 12 BC to 20 CE. As a significant supporter of Buddhism, he dedicated a Buddhist reliquary, known as in the Shinkot casket, and some of his coins feature the Buddhist Triratna symbol. He succeeded his predecessor Visnuvarma and was followed by his son, Indravasu.
