Hindu Medieval, Vijayanagara kingdom, Achyutaraya (1529-42 AD), Gold Pagoda, 3.40 gms, Obverse: Mythical twin headed bird Gandabherunda holding four elephants, two in its beaks and two in its claws, Reverse: Plain, Achyutaraya was the younger brother of Krishnadeva Raya and succeeded him in in 1529 AD. However in 1540, Aliya Rama Raya imprisoned Achyuta Raya in a coup and became the de-facto ruler, Mitch. K&A # 671/Dr. M. Girijapathi # 220, very fine, rare.
